Christian Bautista: More Than “The Star In A Million”

Christian Bautista who is among today’s hottest singers was only fourth placer in the first “Star in a Million” contest.

But now, he’s even more popular than SIAM winner Eric Santos.

His heartfelt rendition of his biggest hits, Colour Everywhere, The Way You Look At Me, Hands To Heaven and So Its You, among others made him really popular not only here in the Philippines but also in other countries like Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore.

During his four-day stay in Jakarta , Indonesia last November, Christian was amazed by the numerous requests for autographs, pictures, magazine photo shoots, and music video tapings. The people’s response to him was more than he could ever ask for.

Prior to his arrival in Jakarta , Christian’s single, “The Way You Look At Me” has already dominated Indonesia ’s airwaves for six weeks.

Christian is one good example of a contestant who did not make it as the grand winner but proved later on, that he can still be a successful singer.

Who could be the next Christian Bautista?

It could be Philippine Idol’s Jan Nieto or Gian Magdangal or anybody who made it to the top 12 but did not make it as grand champion.

It could also be Pinoy Dream Academy ’s Jay-R Siaboc or Ronnie Liang.
�
Christian is definitely an inspiration to runners up like Jan, Gian, Jay-R and Ronnie.

Who knows in the future they may even be more famous than Philippine Idol Mau Marcelo and PDA Grand Prize winner Yeng Constantino.

His piece of advice, “don’t lose hope”. Christian said they can still have a successful singing career even if they didn’t win.

Christian has also tried acting. He has a Filmfest movie, “Mano Po 5”, where he completes the love triangle with the lovely Angel Locsin and heartthrob Richard Gutierrez.
