It’s another controversial year for the Metro Manila Film Festival.
Some quarters are questioning the MMFF committee’s decision to give the prestigious “Best Picture” award to Vic Sotto’s blockbuster movie “Enteng Kabisote 3″.
So much has been said about it. Some say “Ligalig” deserved the award. Still others contest, it’s Judy Ann’s movie “Kasal, Kasali, Kasalo” that is most worthy.
Allow me to speak on a personal note.
I was able to watch Vic Sotto’s film. My two kids enjoyed it. They had two hours of fun and laughter.
After the movie, my kids asked me if it’s wrong to lend money to people in need. They asked me why Kristine Hermosa or Faye in the movie was mad at Vic just because Vic wanted to earn more money more than anything else.
My kids asked me who “Poong Maykapal” is.
All these they got from the movie, although not very clear to them given their young age.
But when I explained, they understood it.
The movie says “5-6″ or lending money with big interest is not good at all. It’s like victimizing the people who ’s terribly in need.
The movie says it’s bad to think about money all the time.
Enteng’s children (Aiza, Oyoboy, and their youngest) love him very much.
So when we got home, my two daughters kissed and embraced their dad because they said “the little girl loves his papa Vic in the movie, we should do the same”.
Although the movie made fun of Allan K’s not-so attractive features, it was all in the name of fun. It was intended to make people laugh. My two girls knew it.
Many moviegoers who saw the movie liked it.
It was definitely a welcome relief with all the political and economic problems the country faces these days.
And what is more impotant to a mother and a movie fanatic like me, it made my kids laugh.
My kids seldom watch movies but they always look forward to seeing Vic Sotto’s movie again and again and again.
“Kasal, Kasali, Kasalo” is undeniably a very good film. And so is Cesar Montano’s “Ligalig”.
But what’s wrong with “Enteng Kabisote 3″?

i really like enteng kabisote even im here in korea i watch it i ask favor to my friend in philippines to send me the cds of enteng kabisote,i like the loveteam of vic and kristine,vic sotto is my i idol since when i was a younger.i was 6 year old when i watch okay ka fairy ko.now im 21 and im a dj here in korea but im still watching all vic shows and kristine..i like there enteng kabisote movie….i wish they do again movie together enteng kabisote 4
