Soul Idol Mau Marcelo wins 1st Philippine Idol

This lady simply deserves to be the 1st Philippine Idol.

Soul Idol Maureen Marcelo yesterday won the much-coveted title which also includes P1-million cash, P1-million contract from Sony, BMG and non-exclusive contract with ABC5.

The two other idols, Gian Magdangal and Jan Nieto did not go home empty handed. They each received P250,000 courtesy of Mr. Tony Boy Cojuangco.

Mau has been consistently receiving very good comments since day one from the judges and fellow contestants about her performances. Not to mention, the public just loves her.

It was a very close fight. Mau won by a mere 1.42%. But she definitely deserved every single vote she got.

It was a night of good music, laughter and tears. All 12 finalists performed plus special guests like Aiza Seguerra, G Toengi, Hadji Alejandro, Cueshe, and the three resident judges, Ryan Cayabyab or Mr. C, Francis Magalona and Mamita (Pilita Corrales). Among the best performances that night were the duet of Pow Chavez and Aiza Seguerra and the medley of Mr. C’s compositions by the 12 finalists.

Congratulations to Mau! The people of Lucena City are truly proud of you…and so with the rest of the Filipinos whom you will represent in international competitions.
