Shiloh Pepin a young girl born with a rare condition called sirenomelia otherwise known a the “mermaid syndrome” has just died Friday at the Main Medical Center due to pneumonia. Shiloh, popularly know on the internet as the “mermaid girl” has her legs fused together from the waist down hence called “mermaid syndrome”.
Sirenomelia is a very rare condition. This condition meant some will only have partial working kidneys, and in most cases, no lower color or genital organs. Some children however, were able to separate their legs thru surgery but in Shiloh’s case, this wasn’t possible due to some blood vessels crossing from side to side.
When Shiloh Pepin was born, doctors had predicted that she will only survive for a few days but this “tough little thing” as described by her mother reached until 10 years old. This is truly a miracle.
