Actor Richard Gomez wants to run for senator. But under what political party? That, we still do not know.
Â
Latest reports said the actor is not welcome to run under the banner of the administration party.
Â
Gomez once played an active role in the massive anti-drug campaign “Mamamayan Ayaw sa Droga” or MAD during the Estrada administration. Thus, he is identified with the impeached former president and his party. He is in no way, a known supporter of the Arroyo administration.
Â
Majority of the members of Lakas-CMD reportedly oppose the idea of having Goma as one of their senatorial candidates.
Â
One congressman was quoted as saying “Di naman kasi pwede na nasa kabila ka dati tapos ay bigla kang lulundag sa amin dahil hindi ka pinili ng grupo.”
Â
Another administration senatorial candidate, Mike Defensor, however said they are open to accomodating opposition members.
Â
The United Opposition recently announced the completion of its senatorial line up which does not include Gomez.
Â
Gomez had expressed his intention to run for senator under the banner of the Nationalist People’s Coalition or NPC which is a known ally of the administration.
Â
Gomez’s case is still being discussed by members of the Lakas-CMD party.
