And now, they’re down to three. From thousands who auditioned to the first ever Philippine Idol, 24 were chosen by the three resident judges, Ryan Cayabyab (Mr. C), Pilita Corrales (Mamita), and Francis Magalona.
From the 24 contestants, 12 finalists were voted by text voters. And now, just days before the finals, the three were chosen to battle it out in the Big Dome (Araneta Coliseum). Who among Soul Diva Mau Marcelo, Livewire Idol Gian Magdangal, and Hunky Idol Jan Kurt Nieto will be the first Philippine Idol?
Mau, a simple lady who hails from Lucena City, is definitely a crowd favorite. She always brings the house down with each of her powerful performances.
Gian is a veteran theater performer. He has the experience and it shows every time he’s on the stage. The judges are all praises for him.
Jan is an Atenean and fits well in the corporate world. His great passion for singing brought him to Philippine Idol. Mr. C never thought he would go this far, but he did. He’s definitely gifted with a good singing voice that goes well with his good looks.
Who would best represent our country in the Philippine Idol? It’s all in the hands of the voting public. Recent blog polls indicate Mau is leading the race with 40 percent of the votes, closely followed by Gian with 39 percent. Jan lags behind with only 7 percent. But then again, not all text voters are bloggers, and vice versa.
On a personal note, all three of them deserve to bag the much-coveted title. We are all free to support our own choice.
As for me, I have a few bucks to spend to vote for Jan. Don’t ask me why. It’s my choice.
