Iranian people call her “Neda” (which means “the call” or “the voice” in Farsi) an Iranian girl believed to be shot by a member of a pro-government Basij militia during a protest in Iran. No confirmation as who is the real culprit as media were banned from reporting on the streets of Tehran and the government has not released any information about the incident.
The Iranian government has been filtering the internet and other websites including Facebook but nevertheless, a video of the incident was able to get into youtube. In Iran, people are using anti-filter software to get around this and some have been exchanging the video thru bluetooth.
This amateur video of Neda with blood coming out from her nose and mouth has triggered the Iranian people to unleash a barrage of outrage at the government and they are now using the little girl Neda as their new symbol of rebellion. The government is now feeling the pressure to recount the votes of the widely disputed elections.
