DC Metro Train Collision Accident Photos

A Metro train smashed into the back of another Monday evening during rush hour. According to wtop.com, 6 people were found dead and 70 were hurt and injured in the DC train crash.
According to Washington DC fire and EMS spokesman Alan Etter, the trains were lodged on top of one another. The metro red line will be closed between Silver spring and Rhode Island stations until about Tuesday. So in case you live in the area, pls check your Washington DC metro map and plan your travel.
Metro General Manager John Catoe says it appears one of the trains was stopped on the tracks awaiting permission to clear the station when another train came up behind it and slammed into the back of the train.
Each metro train has 6 cars and can accommodate about 1200 people.
Survivors were taken to nearby hospitals such as Washington Hospital Center, Howard University Hospital and Suburban Hospital.
With the rising cost of healthcare and insurance, I hope those injured has a good insurance or healthcare plan. But I’m pretty sure the DC government would take care of these expenses. Who would think that in this age of technical advancement, such train collisions can still occur.
National Transportation Safety Board team are already there to investigate the crash. I do hope this would translate to a better Metro once this is all over.
