Joseph Rocha served as a Petty Officer Third Class in Bahrain Military Working Dogs Division. He admits he’s gay and that the Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell policy for gay men entering the military service in United States didn’t seem to have worked for him.
“The irony of “don’t ask, don’t tell” is that it protects bigots and punishes gays who comply,” says Rocha.
He details his alleged experience of abuse and bigotry in his article in Washingtonpost.com entitled “I didn’t Tell. It didn’t Matter.”
