Joan Kennedy And Death Of Ted Kennedy

Joan Kennedy is the first wife of Senator Ted Kennedy who is the youngest brother of John F. Kennedy. Ted died of brain cancer Tuesday Aug 25, 2009.

Virginia Joan Bennett Kennedy was born on September 2, 1936. She is a former American model. Joan Bennett and Ted Kennedy were married on November 29, 1958, in Bronxville, New York and had 3 children namely Kara Kennedy Allen, Edward Moore Kennedy, Jr. ,and Patrick Joseph Kennedy.

In July of 1969, Ted was involved in the famous Chappaquiddick incident where he was involved in a car accident that killed his passenger Mary Jo Kopechne. Joan stood beside her husband Ted through this eventhough he is pregnant and confined to bed. Later on, she suffered a third miscarriage.

Probably due to these events, Joan Kennedy eventually took alcohol and in 1974, she was arrested for drunk driving which resulted to a suspension of her license for 6 months.

Eventually, Joan and Ted separated. Rumours abound that it was due to her alcoholism. She never remarried after that.

In 2005, she was diagnosed with breast cancer and was put under the knife.
