Jason Abalos to star in another indie film

After the success of UFO Pictures’ independent film Endo, young actor Jason Abalos will soon be seen again in another independent film; this time under the direction of Direk Quark Henares.

He will be playing the male lead character of Odie in the movie Rakenrol, who happens to be a bass player for a rock band named Hapipaks. Quark Henares dubbed the indie film as ‘the most personal film I’ve ever worked on.’ He along with Sandwich guitarist and Diego Castillo worked on the script.

As for the casting, Quark and Diego revealed listing a handful of names during the initial stages of production. In the end, they finally chose Jason above all the other young actors after seeing him in Endo.

For Jason, the difference between a commercial movie and an independent one is simply way too much.

“Pag indie kasi art lang talaga, kahit hindi ka mapanood ng marami basta makita ka ng mga kritiko, di ba, achievement na ‘yon?” he offered.
