Is Hotel of Doom bound for doom?

Last year, Ryugyong Hotel restarted its construction of the Hotel of Doom after a 16-year break. The Hotel of Doom is a three-sided pyramid built with walls going upwards in an angle of 75 degrees. Its cap has multiply concentric rings. This is supposed to be a skyscraper with 105 storeys but they took a hiatus in its construction when North Korea’s economy melted down.

Ryugyong Hotel is located at Pyongyang, North Korea. It was supposed to open in 1989 but it failed. By that time, North Korea already spent 2% of their GDP for the Hotel of Doom. In 2008, Orascom group of Egypt began refurbishing the tower. It is said that this project will be done by 2012. It’s good to know that the Hotel of Doom, even after many years of the hiatus, is not at all bound for doom.
