I can’t believe it. A few days ago, Haiti was hit by a magnitude 7 earthquake and now they were hit AGAIN with a magnitude 6.1
This happend just a few hours ago (Wednesday, January 20, 2010 at 11:03:44 UTC.) The distance of the epicenter is about 60 km (35 miles) WSW of Port-au-Prince, Haiti.
I think it’s like early morning in Haiti at that time, and thus many are still asleep when that happened.
The 6.1 Magnitude aftershock has shaken the buildings and sent people running out the streets.
The location of the tremor was far inland to generate any tidal waves in the Caribbean area, so Tsunami Warning Center so there is no sign for imminent tidal wave.
Apart from that, the nearby Cayman Island were also hit by a 5.8 Magnitude earthquake at about Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at 14:23:38 UTC.
There’s also another earthquake with a 5.1 Magnitude in Solomon Islands at about Wednesday, January 20, 2010 at 12:56:50 UTC.
Could this be the result of continental plate movements?
