Ed Mcmahon
Edward Leo Peter “Ed” McMahon, Jr. died yesterday 23 June 2009 at the age of 86. Ed McMahon was the voice behind the opening greeting (“Heeeeeeeer’s Johnny!”, of the Johnny Carson’s Tonight show back from (1962 to 1992).
He was also a comedian, game show host, announcer, and television personality. McMahon died at the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles, California.
As of this time, no formal cause of death was given, but McMahon’s publicist attributed his death to the many health problems he had suffered over his final month.
Some of his accomplishments in his early years were receiving 6 air medals. He was a fighter pilot during World War II. He was later on sent to Korea in February 1952 where he flew unarmed O-1E Bird Dogs on 85 tactical air control and artillery spotting missions.
He retired with the rank of Coronel in 1966 and was then commissioned as a Brigadier General in the California Air National Guard.
What sad and tragic news! So unfortante… bless his soul!
