Chocolate Hills Philippines – One of the famous tourist attraction in the Philippines. Located in Bohol province, it is composed of 1,776 hills. It has a very unusual geological formation.  I can describe it as a molehill shaped mound which is conical and almost symmetrical in shape.  It reminds me of the chocolate kisses which has a similar shape and thus it was called “Chocolate Hills” of the Philippines.

Geologist haven’t agreed on how it was formed. Some say

The unique land form known as the Chocolate Hills of Bohol was formed ages ago by the uplift of coral deposits and the action of rain water and erosion

While others say

the grassy hills were once coral reefs that erupted from the sea in a massive geologic shift. Wind and water put on the finishing touches over hundreds of thousands of years

Nevertheless, Chocolate Hills in the Philippines is one of the most breath taking views in the country. It was even nominated in the new 7 wonders of the world.
