Bryan Chemical Fire – El dorado Chemical Company

The Bryan chemical fire is now out. Residents outside a 2 mile radius from the fire location can now safely return home. Others opted to stay in nearby hotels and places where they can spend the night.

The Bryan chemical fire started from the El Dorado Chemical company. The company is a chemical plant that processed ammonium nitrate for creating fertilizers which is potentially explosive. This kind of chemical is sometimes used in making improvised explosive device, dynamites, and car bombs so having a fire with a company full of this chemical is really alarming.

Thousands of people were evacuated once the firefighters and city officials learned about the chemicals and its potential effects.

The fire broke out around noon and took roughly 7 hours to burn itself out. Smoke started as grey smoke but eventually it turned to orange once it started burning those chemicals.

According to reports, a spokesperson from the chemical company said 2 workers were doing some welding in an empty storate bin when sparks started the fire.
