Are We Ready For “Ligalig”?

Two days to go and the much-awaited Metro Manila Film Festival begins.

One of the nine film entries, “Ligalig”, is touted this early as a surprise runaway winner.

“Ligalig” is produced by CM Films and directed by Cesar Montano who also stars in the movie. Also starring in the action thriller are Sunshine Cruz, Katya Santos, Celia Rodriguez, Gwen Garci and the great Johnny Delgado.

Movie critics who have seen the film’s preview said it has a good chance of bagging some technical and acting awards.

The film boasts of a good cinematography, musical score and sound design.

It has a very intriguing trailer and poster which shows a man in the dark which appears to be Johnny Delgado.

The veteran actor, Delgado, appears in the film as Montano’s father. Viewers will be confused and intrigued about the identity of the real killer. Is it Johnny, Cesar or somebody else?

Fearless forecast: Johnny will win as best supporting actor. Celia Rodriguez who is Sunshine’s mom in the movie will win as best supporting actress.

Cesar Montano will definitely bag the best actor award come Filmfest awards night.

The film is undeniably for mature audiences.

The kids have their own set of family-oriented movies to choose from, “Enteng Kabisote 3”, “Super Noypi”, “Tatlong Baraha”, and “Zsa Zsa Zaturnah”.

The older ones can choose from horror films “Shake, Rattle & Roll 8” and “Matakot Ka Sa Karma”, and action thriller “Ligalig”.

Two love stories, “Kasal. Kasali, Kasalo” and “Mano Po 5”, will appeal more to young lovers.

Are we ready for “Ligalig” this Christmas? Well, there’s no harm in trying.
