Childhood obesity is on the rise these past couple of years.  In one case, Alexander Draper of South Carolina, a 555 pound boy, the law got involved.

The state said that Jerri Gray, the mother of 14 year old Alexander Draper, is to blame and it was her fault.  The mother said that the boy was eating to much at school but reports said that it is more likely that the mother didn’t care how much the boy ate at home.  As a result of this obesity,  the boy has some serious health issues to deal with.

The judge has ordered the 555 pound Alexander to be taken into protective custody.  Jerri and Alexander was supposed to appear in a family court but failed to show up.  Apparently, Jerri together with her son fled the state.   The were later on found near a laundromat in Baltimore.

Alexander Draper was then checked by emergency medical services and was turned over to the Maryland Department of Social services while her mother was taken into custody and will be held in Baltimore while waiting for the extradition order.
