$4500 Car Voucher – $4500 Car Stimulus

The House approved the plan to give out $4500 Car Vouchers. Some call it the $4500 Car Stimulus Package others say its the cash for clunkers bill. Why?

The plan actually is to replace those gas-guzzler automobiles (cars and trucks) with fuel efficient cars.  A cash for clunkers program. The way it works is that if you car is a gas-guzzler and your car qualifies, you can just trade it in for a newer, fuel efficient model and you get a $4500 voucher. I guess this would be on top of the trade in value of your automobile.

There are conditions however for this “$4500 car stimulus”. You automobile must be still be in drivable condition and gets no more than 18 miles to the gallon, and be 1984 models or newer.

I believe the $4500 amount is the maximum.  Not all will get $4500.   According to sources,  only if the car or utility vehicle is 13mpg more than your old car.   Usually the miles per gallon figure is posted on the window sticker.   If its only 7mpg more efficient than your car, I think it would be $2500.  Still not bad.

Of course, the new car should have a better gas mileage. There is no point in getting a newer, bigger gas-guzzler. That’s not how this voucher should be used.

People who has a car that is worth less than $4500 are the ones who will benefit the most out of this car voucher.
